i like to believe the world is a beautiful place, but it sure was ugly last night. if we could violence our way to a perfect world we would have done so ages ago. my hearts breaks for venezuela today.

These are some of my favorite pictures from last year.

All shots are unedited, taken on a Canon EOS Rebel T100 with its stock zoom lens.
A photograph of a large tricycle parked next to a pole of some sort. The pole is green, four-sided, and obscures some of the tricycle from view. The tricycle is large, built for an adult to ride. Its yellow paint is somewhat faded but not chipping. There is a metal rack basket just behind the handlebars for storage. Zip-tied on the front of the basket is some kind of accent decoration of a cockatiel. A photograph of a lamppost in front of many trees. The lamppost is just off-center, a bit to the right. Only its top is in frame. At the top of the post's pole, three metal arms extend out a couple feet. They are equidistant. At the end of each metal arm is a lantern-style light. From the camera's angle, one light is obscured by one in front of it on the right side, and the light in front of it is the only one that happens to be on. A photo of a sidewalk with a bend to the right just ahead. To the right of the sidewalk is grass; to its left is thick foliage, trees and bushes making up most of it. At the bend in the sidewalk, just to the path's left, is a yellow light built into the top of a black bollard. It appears to be late in the day, as the light gives most of the illumination in the picture. A very close-up picture of a flower amongst greenery. Only the flower itself is in focus; all of the plants behind it are blurry. The flower has many small petals running in a gradient from violet-red at the bottom to a bright yellow up top.

Today I'm sharing four photographs I took in the late spring/early summer of 2025, at my old home. The theme: green.

A photograph of a wooded area, largely made up of young-growth trees and low-lying shrubs. In the center of the picture is a white rectangular sign, its vertical sides being the long ones and the horizontal sides being short. It is affixed to an untreated alloy signpost, likely some form of steel. In somewhat dark red text the sign reads, "PRIVATE PROPERTY NO TRESPASSING." A photograph looking upwards at a clear sky. The sun is sitting somewhat low. The tops of trees can be seen cutting into the upper left corner, as well as the very bottom and very right side of the picture. A more deliberate shape can be seen in the bottom right; it is the eaves and roof of a house. A close-up photograph of a large, green leaf handing on a tree branch. The surrounding foliage is out of focus. It is in peak seasonal condition, its stem photosynthetic system showing a yellowish-green against the more pure, bright green of the leaf's body. There are a few holes near the edges of the leaf in some spots, most likely the result of woodland bugs find sustenance on it at some point. A photograph of multiple items with no clear indication of the primary subject. It is the edge of a garden in a previous home of mine. In the bottom left corner, some sort of wooden structure with metal bracing can be seen. Just to its right is a thick wooden post, set in the ground. Closer to the photo's POV are leafed weeds, and further away is shorter grass and some visible mud from recent rainfall. In the right side of the picture, a bicycle with green paint and rusting metal wheel spokes can be seen. Its back wheel is closer to the POV, and set in the ground, surrounded by the weeds.

I will start things off with a set of photos I took over the summer of 2025. The first photo comes from a mirror frame at home; the other three come from walks around my hometown.

A very close-up photograph of a frame for a mirror. The mirror itself is out of shot. The frame is made of dark wood and is inlaid with some kind of blueish-white, multicolored veneer of uncut stone. The frame is contrasted by the white wall it is set upon, visible at the bottom of the image. A very close-up image of a metal plate of some kind. There is little outside perspective to give context to this image, but it appears to be rounded and wrapped around something. For your context, it was some kind of support plate at about eye level for the average-height standing male on a telephone pole. It appears to have been originally painted a shade of gray which has worn and flecked in some spots over time. In the middle of the picture is a scar of blueish-green oxidation or corrosion. A photograph of a bridge underpass. The photo was taken from one far end of the underpass, looking toward the other end. There are several rows of uncolored cement support columns leading from the bridge structure, driven into foundational beams set into a river, only the very tops of the beams visible above the water. In the small spaces between columns, groups of sleeping ducks can be seen. In the center of the closest group, some sort of container or can of food is visible, perhaps left out for the ducks, but that is only an assumption on the part of this photographer. An extremely close-up image of a flowering plant I do not know the identification of. It is set on a green stem, with many dozens of small petals, smaller than the average fingernail, set in a gradient from yellow at its top to reddish-violet at bottom of the flowering bit. It is in the middle of a larger flower garden, with loads of various greens, reds, and yellows of other plants mostly out of focus.
