There's a through link to the misdirection in Apple's "Think Different" advertising in the mid 80s given that so much of the WIMP interface was stolen from PARC and the stolen credit of so many AI companies to early prototypes.

Go to the source. Find some new prototypes and develop them.

I would not be surprised if there was a massive exodus of scientists from America right now. Funding is drying up on real research problems and there is a threat of rescinding grants already in the pipeline. All while PhD students are being deported. I just don't understand this strategy for America

Traditional companies cascade goals top-down: executives set targets that trickle down layer by layer. But according to John Doerr, this model is broken.

You should know who benefits form current forms of AI: energy and chips. Anyone promising to replace workers is selling you a plate of sugar.

What scares me the most is that I think business is falling for it so much that they're going to do it anyway.

If I were Canadian PM I would immediately:

1. Create a new $15B science fund

2. Offer any credentialed US scientist funding for lab startup and replacement of NIH grants if they move to Canada

3. Immediate permanent residency

4. Citizenship after 2 years

Overnight a science superpower
