Oh. And the same thing happened with Cloud after the Midgardsormr fight. Unlike the OG, Sephiroth let them get attacked and then swooped in to set it right after Cloud almost died. He really wants them to think it all hinges on him and, honestly, it kinda does.

If Sephiroth hadn't sent her back, it would only be a matter of time before Beagle World collapsed like all the other doomed Stamp worlds we've seen. The only way the worlds can deviate that far is when someone has an incredibly strong desire to keep it going. (Hi Zack.👋)

Or maybe this was simply the visualization of some of her lost memories returning, like the one where Cloud told her to turn back from Mount Nibel. She needs to be able to fix his broken psyche later for Beagle World to stay on track.

Why would Tifa be swirled by memory streaks at this point? Maybe the Weapon/planet began the process of dismantling her memories, so after Sephiroth "convinced" it to send her back, it had to re-infuse the memories back into her. Or...

These only appeared one other place in the trilogy: the Harbinger battle when the gang sees their "future" memories (which I believe are actually in the past). When they injure the Harbinger, THEIR memories come shooting out as streaks of light, swirl around their heads, and reveal lost memories.

Another clue that people missed - the "memory streaks" when the Weapon returns Tifa to her friends. It doesn't spit her out of its mouth (which is how it captured her). She materializes out of Lifestream energy and is swirled by ribbons of light. I call these memory streaks because...

Why would Sephiroth want that? It's not 100% clear yet, but I think he's working against Jenova, who wants to destroy the planet and the Lifestream entirely. He needs the planet's true memories, not the Jenova fabrications. S is following C's consciousness as he relives his memories (and does VR😜).
