I’ll bring the matches.

(Maybe a certain 6’3” bisexual firefighter will show up on the scene. 👀)

Seriously these are NOT the kind of “seismic shifts” I wanted! 😭

Highly recommend Sinners in theaters. It’s truly a remarkable film that I can’t stop thinking about. It is this year’s Everything Everywhere All At Once for me.

Dream: Super Mario RPG 2

A true sequel to SMRPG with Nintendo and SE fully collaborating again. Yoko Shimomura returning to compose and maybe Nomura will help design new characters.

Unlikely: Native KH ports

I don’t think they will give a slot to ports of games that are already available on the Switch except for first party Nintendo titles. Could be in a montage of third party ports or something though. I think it’s more likely SE announces these on their own.

Maybe: FFIX Remake

This has been an open secret for a while now. With it being a smaller scale remake, I think marketing it at Nintendo events would be fitting.

Very likely: FFVII Remake/Rebirth

This rumor has been floating around from reputable sources that Remake is coming to NS2 this year and Rebirth next year.

Thread of my thoughts/hopes:

If they have nothing else to show… DQ1&2 HD-2D. It doesn’t feel like a game to showcase next-gen Nintendo software. But like DQ3, it will probably be marketed at Nintendo events.

Kingdom Hearts Missing Link and FFXIV Mobile will both be important for the mobile segment over the next year. The former was originally set to release sometime in the last two fiscal quarters, so its delay was definitely felt in these financial results.
