2/3 of world’s business aircraft are based in US. If 55% is correct, then US fleet is relatively efficient. Gone unsaid: constant industry efforts to improve efficiency, introduce new technology (eg, electric aircraft), & use sustainable aviation fuel in quantities disproportionate to the airlines.

So you then ask, “WTF?” And you look into the issue. One of the writers of the WaPo-cited report acknowledges that business aviation contributes 2% of total aviation CO2 emissions, which make up about 2% of all CO2 emissions. 2% of 2% is 0.04% of all CO2 emissions. That’s just the global sector.
