If you're looking for a position to work for someone else, I think you should go around asking people who you know. Make sure they're a passion-driven studio—else it might not actually last long. (My studio only has 10 people btw...)

I don't have a good setup either, but I just told my friends my plans and they agreed. If you have a really good idea for a game or project, write it down and share with your best friends or people who may be interested.

I'm sure you remember me, leader of an indie studio here. Most of the members are my friends, and they joined the studio because I talked to them about my plans. I don't know them personally, they're online friends, but we got everything sorted and everyone got a position through word only.

You can add a very niche item that players are gonna meme about, which can spread word about your game. Also, adding random items that interact make my adhd happy, like in the game Kiosk you can stack beer bottles and throw infinite knives at everything. Free will satisfied.

I'm an indie game dev, and as small creators we're better off chasing what we prefer in passion. Instead of following trends, we should take inspiration instead to improve.

As for the worry, I think we all just have to learn the hard way that passion wins in the end, not greed or gut.
