I love this book because it so beautifully tells the story of found family and loving one another as they are. Lost individual learn to use the broken shards of their hearts to build a mosaic together.

The Tale of Despereaux was the most formative book from my childhood. It showed me the blurred lines of good and evil, and how small differences in otherwise parallel lived experiences can create either a hero or villain.
