I'm a lot more active on twt than on here for a variety of reasons. But I thought I'd also share what I've got going on right now, just....idk, to share?
"A bit of honesty that might embarrass me later: I'm not doing well. I'm physically safe, and will continue to be physically safe, but as far as mental health goes, I'm way down at the bottom. It's been quite a while since I've felt this bad. My instinct is to feel ashamed of all of this, though if it were any of my friends or family feeling this way, I'd tell them they had nothing to be ashamed of. It's frustrating beyond measure to struggle with the same issues at 31 that I did at 13. I have more coping mechanisms, a decent medication regimen - but this brain stuff, it's chronic. I'm never going to fully escape it. And the world around me - man. Y'all know me. I want to fix everything for everyone, and that's impossible even when we're not in unprecedented times. (When do they stop being "unprecedented times" and become "the world in which we live"?) I try to help where I can, and that never feels like enough. I'm sharing all of this not necessarily in search of sympathy but because I know a lot of people are also feeling pretty miserable right now. I'm tired. I'm doing my best. I worry constantly that my best isn't enough."

Some Val Kilmer inspired art my kids and I made in his honor.
Abstract art on canvases made by a two-year-old (top painting), an adult (middle painting), and a five-year-old (bottom painting). The top painting is primarily wavy shades of brown, green, yellow, blue, and purple, with five white stripes across it created by painting over pieces of tape and then removing the tape. The middle painting is primarily shades of red-orange, turquoise, and a dusky purple. The word LOVE is spelled out, again using the tape technique, and the text from some of Val Kilmer's final newsletters are written in the letters of LOVE in blue and green ink. The bottom canvas includes all kinds of rainbow colors swirled around, with horizontal and vertical white tape stripes with abstract drawings on them.
