I predict it will be a combination of both fighter jets because we already have a purchase agreement already with the US and it would be very costly to break it.

Imo, the potential (not the actual purchase) to buy American fighter jets is leverage. We don't have a lot so making a quick decision not in favor of the US would result in the loss of this leverage. I imagine our government wants the deal with Saab but they also want this bargaining chip.

I am so sick of the US in our politics, discourse and media. I just spent a couple of months in Europe and it was so nice not to be inundated with American news, etc. Europeans do not obsess over America.

We need to divest ourselves as soon as we can so we are not beholden to them.
