I found this Lonely mushroom living in a partially rotted log on a walk through the forest. The Purplish colors around it are the rays of LIGHT illuminating the wood of the log. The mushroom found the only place in the shadow where it could survive and flourish.

The Big Island, Hawaii 5/2010 During an eruption people could walk to a viewing area. A group of us came across the sign, I’m standing next to. 2nd picture was a women trying to poke a hole in the flow to get some lava flowing , no lava hurt 😂

The first picture is the original. A grape vine (about the thickness of a pencil) wrapped in tendrils. The second is a B/W crop of the first. I was always amazed at the detail this lens resolves in the center , edges are another story. 18-105 AF-S DX VR f3.5-5.6G ED
