If I can’t figure a coding challenge out in 15/30/45 minutes for an easy/medium/hard question respectively, then I’m looking up the answer, and trying again.

To me, it’s not enough return on investment for me to stay stuck on 1 problem longer than those ranges.

You used to be able to win easier with even a mediocre idea because not as many people were executing on ideas.

Now a lot more people are executing faster with AI, so the idea itself is more important than ever..

“Trust the process”
Right, but sometimes you also have to take control and re-define the process first

6 ways to get UNSTUCK when you’re coding:

1. SLOWLY re-read the code
2. Add debugging code
3. Draw the problem
4. Start with a “bad” solution
5. Ask for help
6. Walk away for a while

What are ways you get unstuck?

If a software engineer deploys a fix before anyone notices, then was there really ever a bug?

A "software developer" who can not handle feedback is not a software developer

Sometimes it’s very hard to tell, but it’s very important to realize when a dream is not actually yours, but instead one you’ve taken from someone based on their success you perceive.

Having apps in the App Store for the interviewer to download/use during the interview ended up being such a power move for me 🔋⚡️

“real” projects > “tutorial” projects

I say the best programming language to learn first is the one you’re actually motivated to learn and won’t quit on.

Once you learn one it’s easier to learn a 2nd, 3rd, etc.

Yes, some languages do tie to specializations, but don’t get stuck deciding for months like so many do.

I love having technical arguments with him because I win (most of the time)

Growing up in #tech is realizing you don’t have to “win” every single technical argument

I’m so happy I actually put in effort in computer typing class in high school. I’m thankful we even had the class. I may not have become a programmer without it.
