Richard Hofsteadter’s “Anti-intellectualism In American Life”, published in 1963 is eye-opening.

Anti-intellectualism has been a central theme pretty much since the beginning of US history.

I worked for a small, local metal fabricator, but was laid off in April due to the price fluctuations in steel and aluminum. Estimates can’t always be reworked for projects happening months away, and the price increases at time of purchase seriously affected cash flow.
