If they determined he was no longer a defenseless receiver (he had turned upfield) targeting would require the defender to lead with the crown of the helmet. As a “defenseless receiver”, it only requires a blow to the head.

They determined the receiver had turned upfield and was considered a runner (not considered defenseless receiver, which changes the rules for what is targeting)

I think its a max exodus either way to be honest. I dont know if we can afford the $10 million buyout in his contract to get rid of him this year.
