My mother’s funeral was today, here she is rocking out with the washboard in the family Skiffle band sometime in the 1950s.
A black and white photograph from the 1950s showing an older man (my Grandfather) playing a Banjo (while smoking), a young woman (my Mother) plays the washboard while another man (possibly my Uncle) plays a homemade tea chest bass.

Frankie the cat runs the Chertsey Book Barn (don’t tell the humans).
Located about an hour’s drive south of Christchurch between Rakaia and Ashburton, its a huge old building full of second-hand books. I’ve known of it for years, but yesterday I made my first actual visit there.
