I asked the folks at my 21st Avenue store how often Second Harvest picks up and they said it varies- apparently they call them when it’s full. The barrel is just inside the front door where you get a cart. Gives me a little hope seeing regular people pitching in.

Agree about contributing directly, but let’s not forget the Second Harvest food barrels at Kroger’s. Whenever I have my wits about me and remember to add a few items to my cart, it’s the simplest thing possible. And unlike the “before times”, these days it’s positively brimming over.
