It's long past time for America and the rest of the world to "play things differently".
But they knew that from day one as they've always known how Putin operates.
Sadly, just like the last one and the next one, this administration has no intention of really pressuring Putin in any meaningful way.

So the USA is telling Ukraine to either accept complete capitulation or "we're going to stop helping you".
Again, Trump only cares that he gets a deal done no matter how bad it is for everyone else (except him). And he's so desperate that he's resorted to blackmailing an ally to help an enemy.

Maybe a better motivation would be, for every dollar NATO gives the US while the war is on they'll double it when the war ends (to continue to keep Ukraine armed)?
