Lost
Modern life is shit so nothing to do but play the first album I ever owned on the only turntable I have left. So much going on here to offend the music and hifi snobs but I’m escaping my troubles and getting in touch with the 9 year old me who bopped in his bedroom without a care in the world!

In need of some calmness in my life and a reset so it’s back to my favourite Elvis album. From the sublime opening track to the perfect Bridge Over Troubled Water closer this is oft overlooked and overshadowed by Elvis’s Memphis recordings but it’s the most adult and contemporary he ever sounded.

Before 1977 music was my Dad’s Jim Reeves records and my Mum’s 60’s pop idols. Then I heard Elvis and music became something to cherish, to collect and to enjoy. No matter what modern music I might flirt with, I always come back home. Happy 91st Birthday Elvis!

Without Sam Phillips the world would have been all the poorer. Tiny ripples in a tiny Memphis studio that changed the world forever. Here’s to his 100th birthday!

Just found this in my folders, signed by Scotty and DJ when they did a UK tour in the 90s, was a great gig.

When I first heard Elvis almost 50 years ago, this was the album my parents had. Initially ineligible for the charts due to TV advertising and budget pricing it’s one of the 10 biggest selling albums of the 70s. This early blue label pressing courtesy of @brighterdayvinyl.bsky.social go follow him.

Trials and tribulations of charity shop searching part 2: one of the classic live albums on double vinyl and not FUBAR for a mighty £1. A good day.

The trials and tribulations of charity shop searching part 1. Thought I’d found a nice copy of Piledriver, grabbed in a hurry with a few other Quo albums but the sleeve contained an Italian pressing of On The Level. So now have an empty Piledriver sleeve and a sleeveless On The Level. £1 well spent!

“..from Bayer Leverkusen and Bournemouth respectively”. Really? Respectively? You sure that’s right BBC? It’s okay I’m sure the proof reader/editor will spot the error…..

Don’t have to imagine….

Don’t rush off on holiday without making sure you haven’t left your vinyl out in the hottest room of the house for a week would appear to be the lesson here 🤣

Stripping my collection down to essentials, does this Sun records make the cut? Terrible 1969 cover but what a track listing!

Urgent need for funds means I’m selling a lot of records including my entire Elvis vinyl collection. Consists of originals from the 1950s right up to the present day so if there’s an Elvis album you need send me a message or reply to this post and I’ll see if I can help. Reshares appreciated.

In need of a pick me up, the coffee is brewing and this banger compilation of late 50s/early 60s rock n roll is spinning thanks to @brighterdayvinyl.bsky.social

Whatever happened to Smiths crisps? As ubiquitous in the 70s as Golden Wonder at a time when no-one ate Walkers. Picked up this pop promo piece that Smiths put out in 1975, collect your tokens and get a double sided flexi disc of poptastic tunes. This one had 3 inside the complete packaging!

Is it the best album ever released? I think it is (also features greatest bass playing ever recorded in the pop/rock idiom: don’t come at me with your jazz bass freak out sessions)

Ah another week. Right let’s be having you but starting off with something a bit different.

Well I don’t mind confessing that this reissue choice to put autographs on the CD case momentarily had my heart a flutter 🤣

Well this charity shop find must be worth a fortune? To Discogs we go. Oh, maybe not.

Had to wait until the early hours to open my @brighterdayvinyl.bsky.social parcel but it was worth the wait and included these prime rock n roll era Conway Twitty singles in their original sleeves. Thank you Joel! If you love vinyl then follow @brighterdayvinyl.bsky.social
