Oh dear @news.rte.ie, 0.25% does not mean a quarter. 0.25% is a quarter of 1%. The article has been up for 4 hours unfixed.

0.25% suggests our hundreds of wind turbines are negligible when, in combination with solar and inter-connectors meant August 2025 had one of the lowest CO2g/kwh ever.

It's probably more Shanganagh that Shankill but via Glencar, Kilbogget Park, Deansgrange Road, Mount Albany, Newtownpark Ave, Rockfield Park, Blackrock Village, Blackrock Park and onto the Road Road at Booterstown DART station.

And the associated cycle infrastructure project tracker board: trello.com/b/dps7lepq/i...

That includes detailed histories and project updates on almost all cycle infrastructure projects in Dublin.

(Note: it's volunteer maintained. It's a little behind in DLR, FCC and SDCC council areas right now)

For the most part there are infrastructure projects in the works to join up all of these cycle routes.

You can explore what's planned in your area of Dublin using this this map. Click on each line to get more information about that project: www.google.com/maps/d/viewe...

There were other contenders for routes that might make it from the M50 ring to the centre of the city first.

The Grand Canal Greenway from 12th Lock made great progress to Rialto/Pimlico but never was completed to the city centre.

Clonskeagh to City centre has great stuff outside of DCC's area.

You can cycle from Sutton to O'Connell Bridge on a fully protected route the whole way. It's S2S long the coast, the new Clontarf to City Cycle route, Royal Canal Greenway Phase 2, Samuel Beckett Bridge, South Quays to O'Connell Bridge. Comes it at around ~12km.

I've lots of theories for why this part of Kimmage in particular is leading the way. Frequently when we ask people why do they cycle it's convenience. Easy bike parking, consistent journey time, flexible leaving time etc. Bike smash espublic transport here. Will BusConnects level the playing field?

Not sure "a specific project is completed without further regard to wider setting or context" is accurate in this case. Just 800m up the road there is a spur off the mainline to connect this route to schools and colleges.

Every project needs a defined scope. Projects can't tackle every road. 2/2

The construction of these new paths through the grassland area are outside of an existing carriageway. Section 38 limits works to a road’s carriageway and its verges. That’s why it is a Part 8.
