Finally got my Emporia Vue energy monitoring system installed last week. I went with three units to cover the Powerwall gateway, main panel, and an isolated load panel and it looks like I'm going to need a fourth to cover the rest of the circuits in the main panel.

Still haven't pulled together my 2023 home energy summary, but here's a quick look at Mar-Feb energy usage for the past two years (serves to capture a "full winter"). We'll be paying our first electric bill in 4 years next month, mainly due to more at-home EV charging, lower solar generation

3 degrees outside, 72 degrees inside thanks to a couple minisplit heat pumps. Both EVs are working just fine as well, in case anyone was worried.

If you've ever wondered what an EV battery looks like at the end of a dry recycling (shredding) process:
From left to right, plastics, metal (structural parts of battery, e.g. steel, copper, etc), and black mass, a mixture of anode and cathode materials including graphite, lithium, cobalt, etc

A good day to be out on skis. Hoping tomorrow's forecast improves, 1-2 inches of rain would put a real damper on things

Great article by @drkatemarvel.bsky.social. Really, really, really unfortunate advertising on said article

Looks pretty similar to mine! Fully electrified home, 15kW array, about 40% of our EV charging (by kWh) done at home. I'd really like to do a simulation that takes into account our 27kWh of home battery storage, which is currently used primarily in backup mode.

Really petty views this morning departing BTV. Camel's Hump in the foreground, White Mountains in the background?

Natural Gas is just the worst. Looked out my window this afternoon to see the local FD out in force in response to a major gas leak two doors down. Lawn service hit the meter with a mower apparently. Two homes evacuated but thankfully no injuries

Same experience for me in Quebec this summer, driving across the Gaspé Peninsula.
