yeah, the right wing tilt is clear, as are the fee collection incentives on increased betting volume, but none of that explains why they’re running ads in partnership with a third party that encourages counterintuitive investment AND requires a disclosure.

yeah, sorry my misunderstanding. i thought they also worked like market makers to buy positions and keep bets flowing. any idea why the official Polymarket IG would be running advertisements that encourage betting on Cuomo and also requires a “Paid For By RoadToTheElection Com LLC” disclosure?

David corrected my ignorance of the p2p nature of these prediction markets, but the fact that “RoadToTheElectionCom LLC” (???) is funding ads on the official Polymarket IG account suggests there is still plenty of legally suspect and predatory shit going on with this advert

If I say an event will happen and am offer to bet 60¢, and someone else offers to bet 40¢ that it won’t, then 1 Yes and 1 No share are created and assigned to each bettor. The winner of the bet gets $1 (minus fees, how the market actually makes money) and the loser gets $0.

yeah, my initial take was that this ad was just a savvy ads manager harvesting clicks to goose some KPIs. conversion rate on “cuomo bets placed” can’t be great after people click through and see the odds, but if your performance is measured by the number of ad clicks…

yeah, i mean, they certainly aren’t running ads about how “betting on zohran is a safe investment.” is it wild to speculate that Polymarket, or a PAC subsidiary (???) participates in its own marketplace
