got the pickaxe, axe and shield all up and running! i also made a slime shader to finish off a personal favourite poison that 'slimes' targets, slowing them down and making them drop anything they try to pick up #pixelart #unity2d #indiedev #gamdev

added a miner enemy with a roll and a basic pickaxe attack...whilst they aren't quite finished yet i'm happy with how the enemy AI is working so far and i think it's time to re-introduce player combat! #pixelart #unity2d #indiedev #gamedev

got some more work done switching over to the new art style including updating the knights and crates...i also added exploding mushrooms, more light sources, and a new triggered animation for enemies that's a bit more subtle #pixelart #unity2d #indiedev #gamedev

lately i've been trying to figure out the art direction for this project...whilst i really enjoyed the original style it felt quite cluttered at times and made certain systems harder to work on and i think this (slightly) new style is a good chance to focus more on the gameplay #pixelart #indiedev

it's been a busy couple of weeks but i managed to implement some more poisons...like the stone and gold poisons that turn targets into statues, with gold statues even dropping gold when they take damage #pixelart #unity2d #indiedev #gamedev

mostly been polishing the poison system so you can now 'smash' poison onto walls and it'll no longer go into the air over ledges...i also added honey which removes all effects #pixelart #unity2d #indiedev #gamedev

the last couple of days have been spent adding effects to potions/poisons including making poisons 'smash' when they hit an object creating a poisoned area wherein the player and enemies can be poisoned even if they weren't hit #pixelart #unity2d #indiedev #gamedev

before i develop the combat some more i thought i'd give myself some guinea pigs to test the new mechanics on...for now all they can really do is follow the player and get hurt but i'd say they're still pretty smart for a couple days work #pixelart #unity2d #indiedev #gamedev

haven't had as much time this week but managed implement a shop system for the player to buy weapons/potions/relics...you can also finally drop weapons (and potions)...next up is to fully implement the potion mechanics and UI #pixelart #platformer #unity2d #indiedev #gamedev

got some more work done on the combat system including a weapon bar, fast fall attack, and a second weapon class...shields! shields have a less mobility than melee weapons, but let the player block damage whilst in use #pixelart #platformer #unity2d #indiedev #gamedev

started work on the combat system...my plan is to have 4/5 weapon classes each with their own move sets, with each type having a set of dynamic stats that can be tweaked to create new weapons of that class (alongside enchantments/effects) #pixelart #platformer #unity2d #indiedev #gamedev

on top of adding a lot more tile variations i added water that the player can't swim in, but can still cross with the help of floating crates...oh and there's a cute splash animation for when the player falls in #pixelart #platformer #unity2d #indiedev #gamedev

alongside new level assets like fallen trees and tree stumps i made it so only 1 action emote is displayed at a time making it a lot easier to tell what you're interacting with...i also made the emote animations a bit smarter #pixelart #platformer #unity2d #indiedev #gamedev
