A writer not a fighter… except in good causes. Sadly, despite noble resistance, the Observer (a very good cause) has now been thrown to the dogs of the marketplace by the Guardian, who proved to be, “an unreliable ally”.
“Economists aren’t convinced”.
Probably the most pointless sentence in the English language.

Fingers crossed. Take care.

James, it’s the essence of sport. If it was perfect and predictable, what would be the point? However, I agree with your specific criticism of England’s 4th innings performance. It was naive at best. But there’s plenty of life left in this series.

Did you say the same when Stokes hit his miracle innings at Old Trafford? Probably not…

It had weirdness written all over it from the first over.

Yep.

As Brendan Ingle famously said, “You don’t play boxing.”

But they are delighted that the BBC they despise provides them with a platform to preach hate and prejudice, one of the great paradoxes of the modern media narrative.
Nevertheless, I have faith that Farage and his disruptors will follow Trump down the sewer.

Twas ever thus, my friend. What I’m saying is it’s a contract between the spinners and those who want to believe it. This government, btw, is not half as bad as the Tories, who are in bed with their media friends. For evidence, I give you 3 words: Sir Robbie Gibb. And don’t start me on Boris.

So quote me where they said anything like that. They didn’t. It’s all whispers, semi briefings, nod and a wink and shameless speculation. Trust me, that’s how it works. Everyone is complicit in the deception. Meanwhile the markets are up and down like a fiddler’s elbow.

These are the tax rises that were never confirmed or denied but generated almost daily headlines. Somebody has hoodwinked somebody, no?

Not a hope in hell Farage will get anywhere near Downing Street. He’s riding on Trump’s coat tails, which are looking very muddy. Politics is cyclical more than linear, and Reform has no narrative but far-right invective. Farage and Tice are pretty much done.

Best gig in town, Paul. Any town.

Saw Dylan, 84, in Swansea on Sunday night. Strong voice. Some excellent songs… but he was seriously frail - to the point he had three spotlights behind him trained on the audience, apparently to stop photography. So, a career that began in search of bright lights is ending in darkness. Sad.

They need to put her on suicide watch. Seriously.

Why doesn’t Obama sue the pants off Trump?
