While the telescope was doing its thing, I used another camera to look back towards Santa Clarita, California, and the Big Dipper.

Comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon, 48.5 minutes of exposure across 97 images taken from Bear Divide in Los Angeles. This is the first time I’ve processed a comet observation like this so I had to do some quick learning and experimentation. Hopefully I’ll improve on this in the future.

MAHLI and MastCam images taken by the Mars Curiosity Rover as a before & after of the new “Valle de la Luna” drill site.

The first two images are using MAHLI on Sol 4690 and are white balanced. The third is MastCam used post-drill on Sol 4693.

A reprojected view of Jupiter centered near the border with the Northern Filamentary Region. This uses image data taken by NASA’s JunoCam during the Perijove 26 flyby in April 2020. I created a simulated terrain relief to provide a sense of vertical scale to the cloudtops.

Here’s another one from the United Arab Emirates’ Hope Mars Mission orbiter taken on February 10 2025. This is centered over the northern hemisphere Utopia Planitia, a vast and flat impact basin.

Went hiking last night in an area with plentiful albite-quartz-muscovite schist and some actinolite-albite schist. I took a few small rocks to document them but nothing particularly impressive. All this is from marine trench sediments subducted with the Farallon plate, metamorphosed, and uplifted.
