She’s trying to land her plane in the storm. Say it. Back track but not deny. Resign or get fired. Tell more as the trump arrows are fired at her. Get blamed even though she has no power. Tell even more because she knows which way the political winds are blowing in 2026. It’s self-preservation.

But having a pet or a kid is something that directly involves them so they relate to other parents. The problem is unless the problem, opportunity, issue their kid is having is 99.9% relatable to something they faced as a kid, they can’t empathize.

I don’t think you have to be old to get this. Lacking empathy is a defining characteristic of modern conservatism. In fact, they embrace it because empathy is a hallmark of liberals.
