Lttp: finished Alan Wake 2 on OS5 Pro today.

Nothing like it in games narrative.

Hard to describe the feeling of how awesome it was to see it weave into and build on Control (my favorite game I played in 2023). Love the Remedy universe and Control 2 has become my most anticipated game.

Got my Tomtoc Switch 2 Slim case today. Was my go to for the Switch 1. Easily the best and most compact case.

Judging by this the Switch 2 is a lot bigger than I thought.

Hello new followers! I run Hardcore Gaming 101 (www.hardcoregaming101.net) which mostly covers older games but sometimes some newer ones too. We also have a weekly podcast where we've discussed and ranked over 1,400 games, plus we publish retro game-themed history books.

If you are into games make sure to subscribe to @p1podcast.com and @84play.bsky.social.

P1P had some great educated conversations this week.

Great to see them still loving the hobby after so many years. Love the passion.

8-4 continues to make me love Japan, games and Japanese video games.

5 unrelated things I buy/use have gone up in price today. Physical goods and services.

Is it time to stock up?

Ready for Switch 2 launch. And shout out to @p1podcast.com for the fun preorder discussion to is week. And yes, publishers using game key cards instead of the 64gb cards sucks.

I’d rather pay $10 more and have the game on the card.

Disc drive arrived for my new PS5 Pro. While it should totally be included I’m still happy with the Pro purchase. Super easy to install. But not nearly as cool as adding a Sega CD or Turbo Grafix CD.

Great first day with the Pro. I guess I understand that it’s expensive, but with a 4k/120hz tv/monitor it is a really nice upgrade. And I didn’t even notice it had 2TB of storage. Only negative was no disc drive included.

Overall it gave me an experience comparable to my 4070s pc but plug/play.
I guess I’m a Pro now. Looks like I’m a PS5 Pro/Switch guy going forward.

Finished Super Mario RPG on the Switch this morning. Really good remake. Still holds up 30 years later. Great music and breezy gameplay. Best $20 I’ve spent in a while.

Now next up is Metroid Prime, Deadly Premonition or Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity.

Really enjoying Super Mario RPG Remake. My friend Jeff and I played almost all the way through it on a 2-day Blockbuster rental in 1996. I can’t believe how much of the game’s world I remember. Writing is still outstanding (not that I understood much of it when I was 10).

I haven’t played through Zelda LttP in almost 10-years. The last time was for Back in my Play. Still incredible and in my all time top 10-15. I hope we get some more top-down Zelda games soon or a Link Between Worlds (which I think is even better than LttP) remake.

Weeks like this are when I miss doing a gaming podcast. Lots of thoughts on the Switch 2 stuff.

The one thing I’ll always go back to is how often the console manufacturers go back and forth letting their previous successful console lead to one where they make lots of questionable (bad) decisions.
