Suffolk born & bred but spent a large part of my adult life in Plymouth, Belfast & Gibraltar.
Interested in history and a bit of a concert goer.
Situation map is for 11 days before his death in the field hospital but as you can see, his division is closer to Moscow than it is Stalingrad.

Another Stocker, Gottfried this time. No idea why it mentions Stalingrad as he was KIA nowhere near. Killed on 31-08-42 with 7./Inf.Rgt 499 of 268.Inf.Div at a field hospital at Gridenki where his body remains. Looks like the damage was done by an explosive bullet.

Not sure why this officer's entry says Ardennen in 1942 as there is an Oberleutnant Josef-Albert Hampp (born 14-11-1911 Berchtesgaden) as being KIA 09-02-1942 in Russia with 12./Infanterie-Rgt 19 (7.Infanterie-Division).

There is also a Michael Stocker on the wall display, Anton's brother maybe? Michael is listed as MIA sometime around 1st Nov 1943 and has no known grave. He is believed to be one of the Unknowns in the cemetery at Duchowschtschina nr Smolensk. He doesn't have a casualty card so his unit is unknown.

He was originally buried in a single grave in the Kuban Bridgehead but his body has never been recovered.

You can still found items in Kanada, usually buttons but also other odds & ends. Managed to find these laying on the surface about 10 years ago.

Were these buildings next to the original ramp used as Effektenkammer?

Didn't do too badly although Huey Lewis crept in to my listening way back in February!
