Is most of American economic political discourse not built around returning to the mid-20th century economy?
July 1, 2025 at 11:46 PM
A bit condescending no? :)

I have a political science degree. I’m fully aware of the definition of a constitutional monarchy.

There is not a real functional difference between an absolute monarchy and an authoritarian dynasty.
June 16, 2025 at 2:46 PM
Authoritarian dynasty is the most annoying term in political science. A distinction without a difference from a monarchy.

We can have immigration enforcement without authoritarian chaos. Latinos shouldn’t live in fear of detainment or being told their passport is fake.
June 15, 2025 at 10:56 PM
For starters, the trend began under Trump in 2019 as the labor market began to tighten. As for deportations; those were really high under Biden as well. The difference is that they focused on criminals rather than indiscriminate raids, removing legal status without cause, harassing Latino citizens.

“Never gonna pass” isn’t a good reason not to fight for things we believe in. Civil Rights was “never gonna pass” in 1955.
June 15, 2025 at 9:42 PM
There isn’t a method of deporting 12 million people that is not massively disruptive for all of us.

It’s expensive, very possibly causes a recession, and is chaotic on a day to day basis.

And you’re asking my solution. If I believe it’s the best way forward then I’m gonna advocate for it.
June 15, 2025 at 9:41 PM
Seems like you could read the legislation in the tweet your replying to. It addresses all that.
June 15, 2025 at 9:35 PM
No you don’t. You don’t live in the US.

You also don’t give two fucks about country of origin.
June 15, 2025 at 9:20 PM
I happen to know more than one doctor with at least one undocumented parent. You probably haven’t heard about that sort of thing because you’re a prick with no friends.

I’m pretty sure he’d try to pass his authority to Baron

We get a great young woman. We get doctors and scientists and people who contribute more to America and the world than you can while you sit in your bot farm in Moscow.
June 15, 2025 at 8:32 PM
It’s amazing how y’all default to this rather than acknowledge that there is a path forward other than rank violence and chaos.

There’s a really great bipartisan bill in congress that offers amnesty to long time residents while securing the border.

Anyways - the entire point of talking about the information environment is that it doesn’t matter who has the best ideas or would run the country better or any of it. If one side controls people’s “realities”, then none of what you and I are saying even matters.
January 14, 2025 at 4:26 AM
But yes - anti-left bias is not nearly as malleable as perceptions of the national economy. Heck…we are literally about to see 20-30% of the country change their opinion on the economy in the next few weeks as happens every election cycle.
January 14, 2025 at 4:21 AM
So now we’re talking about generational propaganda? Like yes - I am fully aware of generations of anti-left propaganda but this started as a discussion of the 2016 and 2020 primaries. There’s not a succinct event or change that led to a majority of those Dem coalitions being not progressive.
January 14, 2025 at 4:19 AM
But what could possibly be different about the voting patterns of the highest propensity most consistent voters and people’s perceptions of the national economy. They are probably equally malleable in a given moment in your mind.
January 14, 2025 at 3:56 AM
I guess if you zoom out far enough all political persuasion and decision making is the exact same…
January 14, 2025 at 3:52 AM
I voted for Bernie in the last 3 primaries. I think Dems messed up royally in essentially erasing the 2024 primary and supporting Biden as long as they did.
January 14, 2025 at 2:16 AM
For 4 years, people in POLLS said “my finances are ok. My towns finances are fine. My state is doing well. THE NATIONS ECONOMY IS TERRIBLE”. Guess which one of those 4 is determined by the news/social media rather than immediate surroundings.
January 14, 2025 at 2:13 AM
“At random”

1) An election is not invalid because of propaganda. That’s not what invalid means.

2) I have decided that polling has shown for a long time that most democrats are not progressive even if I want them to be.

3) “At random” - I decided that the economy was misreported for 4 years
January 14, 2025 at 2:12 AM
Or Dem primary voters are generally the more moderate crowd. That doesn’t mean even most Dems are moderate. But the most engaged voting Dems are more liberal than progressive.
January 13, 2025 at 6:51 PM
As for Bernie vs Biden, the reality is that a majority of Dem voters will push the button for a more moderate option. I don’t like how Dems consolidated to a more moderate option around Biden, but it’s the truth of the party’s base.
January 13, 2025 at 5:06 PM
There absolutely was politicking and propaganda in the 2020 primary? Who is saying that there wasn’t?

The point of saying that Dems got a lot of unfair criticism in 2021-2024 is to say that the information environment pretty clear is in control of the opposition.
