I usually get excited about new Apple software releases, but *OS26 released yesterday are a huge disappointment. The Liquid Glass design elements look like Windows Vista and detract from the simple user interface.

I overcame my [wire]shark fears and finally found a rogue DHCP server that’s been driving me nuts for a week!

192 threads and 1TB of memory seemed like a lot...

I thought that I understood the basics of generative AI, but I'm pretty sure that there's some magic going on... and maybe some randomness too.

I just started using @kagi.com last week - relevant results, no advertising or sponsored content, and private - great experience so far!

220” (9’ high x 18’ wide) video wall. So excited to see the panels finally going in after some installation challenges. Definitely not your average TV!

When I studied in Australia, we spent a week at a research station on Heron Island. The island was very small (1/2 mile long and 1/5 mile wide) and had a resort on the other side. One side observed daylight savings time and the other didn’t. Literally a 10 minute walk set you back/ahead an hour.

I usually don’t have a problem with daylight savings time, but my brain can’t quite come to terms with it yet this year.

It’s officially spring when the neighbor brings out their maple syrup evaporator!

Yikes! I’d imaging there are quite a few (smaller?) orgs who have let their VMware support expire because of the increased prices but haven’t migrated off of it yet. Hopefully the patch will be widely available when it comes out 🤞

When you write an email in a rush, you are valuing your time over other's.

When you put thought into the formatting, clarity, and conciseness, you are valuing their time.

The more people on the email = the more time there is to potentially waste = the more time you should spend on it.

I’m always amazed how much work I can get done at night when Slack, email, and phone are all quiet. Synchronous communication can be so distracting. Productive, but distracting.

😬 Early adopters beware. Has anyone created a clone of DeepSeek that runs on US servers and employs more security?

I've been getting a few of these PayPal phishing emails every day. Can't block them because they actually come from paypal.com. Is anyone else getting slammed with this attack?

If you call the phone number, they will almost certainly request your credit card number or access to your computer.

Open AI steals the entire internet, but is upset that DeepSeek stole from it. Makes about as much sense as anything else going on these days.

Breaking news: The White House budget office on Wednesday rescinded an order freezing federal grants, according to a copy of a new memo obtained by The Post, after the administration’s move to halt spending earlier this week provoked a backlash.

I don't see how NVIDIA won't bounce back. Innovation isn't bad and I don't see an AI future that doesn't run on NVIDIA chips. If someone created a better GPU, that would be another story.
