Going to conduct a little experiment here, with a scene from The Lion King as a control.
One of three images from the "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" sequence from The Lion King, in which we get strongly implied animal boning in a movie for kids, but they are cisgender heterosexual animals so it is okay as far as Bluesky Moderation is concerned. This scene is Nala and Simba looking lovingly into each others' eyes. The second of three pictures from the "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" scene in the Lion King, where after playfully romping around like kids Simba is suddenly on top of Nala and she licks his face. And finally, the scene that launched a thousand furries, that one frame from the "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" sequence in the Lion King where Nala looks up at Simba and gives him really intense "Come Hither" eyes.

Drop something purple.
A digital painting of the first photo taken by the James Webb Telescope. It is a black purple night full of "stars" - stars which are actually galaxies. In my attempt to draw this photo, I incorporated subtle elements referencing Kirby Krackle and UPA aesthetics. I would not mind revisiting this some day and leaning harder on those elements.

also I don't know if anyone even remembers this show but
the character Sully from Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, a show where Jane Seymour played the doctor in a wild west town and dealt with wild west issues in a slightly more grown-up light than classic westerns (natives were actual human beings who deserved rights, for instance.) Sully was the half-feral love interest who was basically her "will-they-or-won't-they" without the show.

It's the Tinner's Hares, three hares running in a circle, their ears forming a triangle inside it. It is a strange symbol that shows up all over the Silk Road, and as far as anyone can tell doesn't really have a deeper meaning to it. Did you guys know that there is a bat called the Painted Bat that is literally Halloween colored? I did.
Just look at this festive little critter. The Painted Bat or the Painted Wooly Bat is orange bodied, orange fingered, and black webbed wings with a cute little creamsickle colored belly. My favorite bat. Which is nothing to sneeze at because Honduran White Bats, Eastern Red Bats (also a bit Halloween-y) and Flying Foxes are things.

Not to mention time. It takes months and seasons to prepare for something that happened without warning. I'm reminded of the Tomato Guy from Twitter that was trying to hustle-culture and accidentally invented farming.
SOME HUSTLE BRO: You don't understand scale. Use 50 dollars to buy 10 tomato plants. In 6 months you have 250 tomatoes. Plant those into 250 plants. 6 months you have 6,250 plants. Plant them. 6 months you have 156,000 tomatoes. Plant them. 6 months you have 3.9 million tomatoes. Sell them for one dollar each. (I have seen claims that this was a troll, but everything he posts is either crap like this or him claiming that he was trolling and it all feels very "HAHA you all fell for my social experiment" kinda thing.)

A creepy Guilded Age era photo of five witches tormenting two maidens. The truth behind this very creepy photo is actually very mundane and even a little cute - back when Vassar College was still all women, it had a tradition where the Trigonometry Class would perform a skit at the end of the year in order to celebrate finally being done with Trigonometry class. This photo was one of those skits called the "Trig Witches" - note the mathematical formula decorating their dresses and the word "calculus."

I spent ages (I've been working on this for a while before sharing any of it) trying to do sprites and tiles and while I like doing sprites and animation I quickly realized that tiles was another matter. It felt tedious and dull and eventually i said fuck it, hand-drawn maps.
That same drawing as before, only it's now hand-painted. The trees are individual. The grass is distinct and textured and the roads are worn. The house has a beautiful thatched roof. The lines look more organic.

So this is a thing I am playing around with. For now it mostly has native assets, it won't when I am finished (if I finish. I have a bad habit of not finishing things.)

The little guy is a homemade sprite, deliberately modelled to look more like old-school CRPG sprites like Darklands or Ultima. He is a bit wee. He is also some kind of anthro - modelled after a harlequin rabbit, his design is somewhere between "Funny Animal" and "Carl Barks style Dognose."

20/20, The Night Watch, Rembrandt, 1642
An assortment of various characters gathered together in one place. The watch captain and his assistant, several other partisans, a dog, their flags, and even a young lady are present. Originally this was not called The Night Watch, it gained that nickname over the years as grime made the painting much darker than it originally was.
