Saw the Oregon Heritage Rail Center Holiday Train on my evening bike ride.
The Polson Logging Co. No 2 train engine loading passengers in front of the Oregon Rail Heritage Center, https://orhf.org/. It is a classic early looking steam engine with steam coming out of several ports on the top and bottom of the train. The train is in a 3/4 profile showing the right side. The Polson Logging Co. No 2 at Oaks Bottom in Portland, OR. The train is steaming away from the viewer. There is an open rail car with people on it and then a classic 1920s heavyweight passenger rail car with PACIFIC RAILROAD PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION written above the windows in gold lettering. There are multicolor Christmas lights along the top and bottom of the car and there is a wreath made of lights. There are some pine trees and bare trees just behind the train. BNSF 3613 engine being used as a power car for the holiday train. It is a compact switching diesel locomotive in orange and black BNSF color scheme. In front of the engine are two bicyclists exiting the Springwater Corridor path moving parallel to the engine. The No 2 engine crossing SE Ivon St. about to return to https://orhf.org. The train is running parallel to SE Water St and there are several markings for bicycle lanes and the entrance to the Springwater MUP.

Cracked into our (final?) case of Abby Spice cider from @natwestinportland.bsky.social. It is a favorite. Great for the dark Portland winters.

2h13m! The question? How long would it take to get from the photo to the deli? That is best case, most other times are 2h30m to just shy of 3h.

Oregon Heritage Rail Center was steaming up Polson Logging Co. 2 engine today in preparation for the holiday season rides

It is a 2-8-2 "Mikado" and if you want to read more about it Wikipedia has a article about it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polson_Logging_Co._2 In the foreground there are two lines of empty rail, next a chainlink fence, then the engine and in the background there is the Tilikum Crossing and the Portland west hills.

Still pulling some tomatillos and tomatoes out of the garden in Portland. Maybe a Thanksgiving salsa?
A quarter sheet pan full of green tomatillos and cherry tomatoes that were picked today. Most of the tomatillos are bursting through the paper skin. The cherry tomatoes are mostly green unripe ones but there are a few with red, pink, and yellow tones. The sheet pan is sitting on pea gravel with leaves and maple seeds scattered around.

Got out for a 85 km bicycle ride with 1100m of climbing. The colors are starting to show up. Just about a perfect ride.

Taiko group doing a drum performance on the top of the Fremont on the second lap.
5 taiko drummers. The closest two are playing barrel drums about the size of a wine cask. There is a person playing a type of cymbals on the left and two people playing smaller drums on wooden stands. The small drums are about 18" in diameter and 7" thick. Two members of the performance. One playing a large drum just like the first. The other is playing a flute. In the background there is an industrial district and further back green hills.

Portland Bridge Pedal Fremont start provides some unique angles of the Union Pacific Albina Yard. Every other day of the year this highway bridge is the motor vehicle only I-405/I-5 interchange. #pdx #trains

Lumber cars, grain cars, tanker cars, box cars, auto carrier cars, flat bed trailer cars, etc in a chaotic arrangement. There are some grain silos behind the classification yard. In the distance there is the St. Johns bridge Bridge and rolling hills.

Carrying stuff by bike is a real game changer. With a little care in how I rode getting a cake home without damage was fun. Most trips I can do solo but for some runs to big box stores @trimet.org is a help.

The BWI observation floor is a quiet place to hang out for a bit. You can see a plane in the outfield that is used for emergency service training.

It is DC-10 N139WA flown as World Airlines 8535. Landed 'firm' on May 6th 2009. This resulted in structural damage to the landing gear and frame.

The main feature is a shelled lobster claw flaccidly drooped across the center of the plate. The wrist of the lobster claw is elevated on something, maybe a scallop or a lobster tail? There is some sort of cream sauce or foam topping. Next to it is a green quenelle with an unusual texture. It is chunky. Above it is a salad of some sort. Frisee? There are 9 peas crookedly arranged in a semicircle going from about 11 o'clock to 7. Beneath the peas and lobster there is a thinly sliced white circle, guessing potato.
