Former cop turned business owner. I used to chase bad guys, now I chase shinny objects.

I’m building an entrepreneur community to $1M/ year, launching a landscape business and running a digital marketing agency.

Dad to 3 amazing kids
While this is a generation of parents distracted with more tech than ever

This is ALSO a generation of parents deeply conscious of this fact and working to both build AND be present.

Interesting dichotomy for sure.

I see tons of dads out here with me. Maybe 50/50 dads and moms picking kids up.

I see parents holding other younger kids, running around playing.

I know these parents and have seen how engaged and intentional they are about family time, quality time, play time and putting phones down past 5pm.

The distraction is unreal. Maybe they’re building multimillion dollar businesses or maybe they’re just scrolling TikTok.

I don’t know. And it all looks the same from the outside.

And while that is a truth. There’s also another truth--

I don’t have this all figured out, but I’m further along now than I was yesterday and I’ll continue to share with you each and every step of the way as I DO figure it out.

As I step into these new roles and new life, I’ll be fully transparent— yes, I’ve reached escape velocity and got out of my “9-5”, but now that I’m on the other side, I’m realizing that the limitations were self imposed. I was there because I chose to be.

It’ll be hard, but hard is what keeps us happy. Life is hard, and that's why it’s rewarding, and that's why it's worth doing.

Nothing about this is easy. There’s a lot of perks that I’m giving up right now… but when you’re standing at the plate and a fastball comes blazing down the middle, you gotta swing.

In an instant, the trajectory of our lives has changed.

- I’m now able to work from home.
- Take my kids to school and pick them up EVERYDAY.
- Work with an incredible entrepreneur doing something I love.
- Build my businesses on my time instead of squeezing it in between shifts.

With both feet, I took the leap. I put in my resignation and within two weeks, I was out.

The timing couldn’t have been more perfect and the offers couldn’t have been more exciting.

This was a HUGE move, but one that felt more right than anything else that I’ve done for the last decade.

Then it happened.

Three things almost back to back to back.

1) @koerneroffice.com emailed me with a job opportunity

2) his business partner and I connected about a separate opportunity

AND

3) my wife was given an opportunity worth taking.

Late nights up with my wife wondering what in the world were going to do.

Sell the house and move to Australia…

Buy a van and become nomads…. No clue!

A couple businesses were running moderately well, but not enough to make the leap.

There would have to be something else.

It was very recent that I felt like I was hit by a TON of bricks. A huge weight on me telling me that I was not living out my purpose.

I could barely get myself out of bed to make it to work. Sick to my stomach the whole time.

Something was off. Something had to change.

But deep down I knew that I wasn’t meant to be a cop forever. I was being called elsewhere, but ignoring the message.

MY plan was to build enough on the back end to smoothly transition out when I’m 40 (I’m 34 right now).

But things happened much faster than that

The experience continued to stack all the while I was working my “9-5”.

Our family grew over the years adding 3 kiddos to the mix.

We bought our home in 2021 and by all matters, we’re living a comfortable life.

During this time I continued to iterate. I launched a VA agency, started publishing a newsletter, started a podcast, YouTube channel, Twitter.

The list goes on and on. You could look at all these as failures OR you could look at them as skills acquired.

A PhD level class one iteration at a time.

We still own it today— but what I thought would have been much more of a cash flowing business turned more into an asset that will pay off LATER.

I still needed more.

In October 2022 I went in with a few other investors and bought a self storage facility in Kansas

To do this my wife and I took out a HELOC.

Super scary, but it was calculated risk.

From fitness coaching, I graduated to real estate. Rich dad poor dad blew my mind as it does for most, and I dove in head first.

But I don’t like to do anything halfway. I didn’t want to go into residential with “tenants, termites and toilets” so I jumped right into self storage.

Books and courses became my best friends. I spent tens of thousands on books and courses over the next several years and studied business and entrepreneurship with an obsession

That biz is what showed me what was possible. I saw behind the curtain and realized there was an entirely different life back there that I was meant to live.
