Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

Migrated my personal email from Google Workspace to @proton.me. I don't want to pay more money for useless Google AI products that I have no interest in using, especially without being asked.

Migration took ~30min of work, and a few hours spent waiting for DNS updates.

Thinking about the resurgence of RSS feeds and how to improve the reader experience. I love the content I subscribe to, but I'm missing an editorial aspect and layout.

Zuckerberg farted out some nonsense today, and since most media outlets refuse to report critically any time a tech CEO offers them some a pseudoserious press release, I've decided to do it for them.

How to Read an "AI" Press Release — Sonja Drimmer
Every so often someone like Mark Zuckerberg or Sam Altman will dribble out some unadorned text in Times New Roman font, announcing with stentorian certitude the advent of a new world that their latest...

If I can’t tell the American tourists by their accent, it’s the absurdly specific coffee orders. Why go to one of the best coffee roasters on the planet and tell them how to make your coffee?

A surprising life hack on linkedin is having my middle name in my profile. I get a lot of DMs opening with "Hi Kevin Nørby", which is a great indicator that it's a mass DM masked as a personal one.

"Compile and run C from JavaScript" 🤯
Bun 1.2
Built-in Postgres client with Bun.sql, built-in S3 object support with Bun.s3, a new text-based lockfile: bun.lock, Express is 3x faster, and a major update on Node.js compatibility.

The amount of new features in Bun 1.2 is staggering. I've been using Bun for more than a year now, and it feels like the thing that might finally make javascript development feel simpler. (and it's ridiculously fast)

Finally cancelled Spotify subscription after many years. On Apple Music now, and found it pretty easy to migrate everything over using Playlisty.

Also subscribe to NTS and SoundCloud Go. That's where the good stuff is.
Previous years I used Spotify religiously, discovering 2-300 artists a year, but this year I feel like Discover Weekly got really boring.

Now I almost exclusively listen to NTS.live, might cancel my Spotify subscription soon.

Playing around with the idea of making an AI-generated radio station based on my RSS feeds. Feedbin → GPT → text-to-speech
December 2, 2024 at 2:25 PM
Heard people saying Claude outperforms GPT, so trying it out for prototyping, for the first time. Observations so far:

- Documentation is lacking. Eg how JSON mode works seems buried in another article on tool use
- Unable to set up billing (getting Stripe CORS errors)

Now waiting for support...

I recently learned about the python package Docling, used for parsing documents (eg HTML) into Markdown/JSON.

Does anyone have recommendations for Javascript packages that do the same thing?

Im so happy my last corporate role, before LLMs went public, was a managerial role.

I’ve used a lot of the ways I would lead and coach my team in how I prompt.
An observation is that managers and teachers are often much better at “getting” LLMs than coders.

Coders deal with deterministic systems. Managers and teachers are very experienced at working with fundamentally unreliable people to get things done, not perfectly, but within acceptable tolerances.

As 2025 approaches, I have room in my schedule for new client projects. I’m generally available for technology exploration, particularly in the areas of physical technology products and generative AI concepts. I’d appreciate a repost or any leads!

Here are a few projects from the past year:
