The irony of that unhealthy relationship is that it is totally one-sided. Unless France is in an hot war against England (happens about half the time, when the two are not allied against some random European power), it doesn't obsess about the brits, at all: it obsesses about Germoney and/or the USA

England is a French colony, which became its own country by LOSING its war of independence, AFAIK the only single such case. And it has been pissy about it since, and based its *whole* identity about "not being France and hating the French/obsessing about France and hating the French".
