Or how strangers still say "bless you' when someone sneezes, a leftover from the Bubonic plague. "Don't die," we are saying. And sometimes, when you spill lemons from your grocery bag, someone else will help you pick them up. Mostly, we don't want to harm each other. We want to be handed our cup of coffee hot, and to say thank you to the person handing it. To smile at them and for them to smile back. So far from tribe and fire. Only these brief moments of exchange. i have ongoing struggles with despair versus hope - one thing that has helped immensely is trying to drop my assumptions about others - and to give moments of care and joy whether i think it will be reciprocated or not - brightening someone's day lifts me up. ✌️⚖️👍❤️

a nice breakdown of how skewed perspectives are -i would quibble about the intentionality aspect because while there are plenty of folks that understand that these aren't true -there are also a majority that only see the negative portrayal from their trusted sources and communities of support. 😔✌️⚖️👍❤️
