Still reeling from the fact that the prime minister of Canada invited Kevin Roberts to speak to cabinet. The invitation has been rescinded, but Canada's Liberal party appears to be set on rolling back climate commitments and building new pipelines.

So I wrote him.

Form to submit feedback to the Canadian prime minister. Text reads "Like many Canadians, I was horrified to learn that Kevin Roberts had been invited to speak to your cabinet. While I am relieved that this invitation was ultimately rescinded, it remains shocking and unacceptable that any member of the Heritage Foundation, much less Roberts, would have been invited. This is not the government that Canadians believed they were voting for in rejecting Poilievre. This invitation, paired with the desire to build new pipelines and abandon climate commitments is deeply unsettling for Canada's future. But more than that, this shows a shocking lack of creativity in finding ways for economic growth and prosperity in Canada. Canadians deserve a livable climate. And they deserve to know why radical anti-democratic operatives from foreign nations are being invited to speak to Canada's leaders. The Liberal Party win was unexpected and narrow; you cannot hope to hold this with a center position that does not exist. Please recognize that your mandate was a rejection of radical anti-democratic values rather than adopting them. Yours sincerely, Ketra Schmitt"

I wrote this introduction to a defence-themed issue of my magazine just a few months ago.

possibly my favorite christmas tradition - hunting down these quebec cheese advent calendars as soon as they come out.
Green, christmasy decorated box with modern stars and bulbs. Box is labeled "Calendrier De L'avent" and "Advent Caldendar". Numbered boxes. "FA LA" also written on box. Quebec fleur de lis symbol.
