Apologies - should have indeed picked a better example!

Agreed. If we don’t pay close attention to the Orange nutcase, our grandchildren will be reading in the history books about trans people the same way we read about the Jews.

The dictatorship is in full swing . We need to change our perspective. DJT will never leave in 4 years time. He will have changed the game. It’s best to compare him with a Roman dictator or Don Corleone ( incl. brutal tactics) than with a politician.

Daarom ben ik maar weer 300 km westwaarts gaan wonen. De UK heeft ook zo z'n problemen, maar het is nog altijd minder rascistisch dan NL.

The problem started with powerful men realising that the invention of a so-called "God" was a way to keep women under control. Start assuming that God doesn't exist, people! And then start using logic instead- that will prevent this Trumpian madness from ever happening again.

Alleen Faber is nog erger. Maar dat is natuurlijk ook niet heel moeilijk. Wat een vreselijke onmensen zijn het.

I fear that trans people will be the Jews of the 21st century.
June 2, 2025 at 7:30 PM
Indeed, that’s one of the elements. Imprisoning and torturing political opponents is next. Imagine what that guy can do with all the data on Twitter.

It’s the early stages of true fascism. It’s the try outs. But this is only month 4 of the dictatorship. He is very dangerous, and the US needs to act in a bipartisan way very quickly to get him impeached. But I fear the worst.
June 1, 2025 at 9:37 PM
Exactly like that. People underestimate Trump. They think he’s just an idiot. They don’t understand history well enough to understand the true danger of that asshole. He will never leave in 4 years time, and will have changed the rules of the game.

Me too. Also, we cannot rule out his own autocratic intentions. It may be the people behind him, but I'm sure he'd love to be the next Putin of America.
May 29, 2025 at 10:26 AM
I agree, that's probably the easiest for him. But bear in mind that the real power (the ones behind him) are playing a sort of 3D chess. The real issue is that people underestimate the threat. We have to judge all their actions in light of their goal: establishing a dictatorship.

Wouldn't be surprised. Even more terrifying if combine it with this:from 1:44 in this video, ex-CEO of Google, last month. In 6 years, there will be smthg called Artificial SuperIntelligence, which is smarter than the sum of humans. Terrifying in the hands of Drumpf. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xZ_...
Recursive self-improving AI coming within the next years, says ex-Google CEO Eric Schmidt.

4. ….declare a new republic or the states that support him, and invade others. He could say that all states on the east coast are one state ( therefore, there ate only 40ish states. Many options. I am not saying he will win, but we should be prepared for that.
May 28, 2025 at 8:19 AM
3.He only wants power and to stay in power for as long as possible. He could hold a special election in the “rebellion” states, but use massive voter intimidation. He could use all social media posts and messages( even deleted) in attempts to declare enemies of the state. He could…
May 28, 2025 at 8:16 AM
2. …would be invalid. Or he could just declare martial law for the US as a whole. Or he could say st SCOTUS that it is an amendment in process, and therefore, he could stay on. The point is this: we need to adjust our frame of reference.
May 28, 2025 at 8:12 AM
1. Correct. But bear in mind that that is the State legislature. Currently, 28 of those are Republican controlled. So he would need just 10 more. He could attempt things like declaring martial law in some states, imprisoning state senators ( or worse), filling a SCOTUS cade that certain states….

Typical autocratic behaviour. Loyalty over competence. The autocrats themselves are often stupid af, but they may be audacious in their criminal behaviour. It takes long for smart people to understand that someone could be capable of such things.
May 27, 2025 at 3:55 PM
I know. Just have a look at this one, at 1:44. Just imagine what Artificial Super Intelligence could do in the hands of that crook. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xZ_...

He will attempt to get through a constitutional amendment that does not limit his term. Just imagine how Putin or Kim Young Un would handle that. T will do the same. Plus, add to that how he would abuse all social media post, messages, click etc, to get his political opponents imprisoned.
May 27, 2025 at 3:34 PM
2. My point is that we need to look less at his individual actions, however imbecile they are sometimes. We need to look more at the underlying trend- we should stop seeing him as anything other than a tyrant. (you're correct that there may be powers hidden behind him, but that doesn't change)
