What I love is when I have to get a new text message to confirm my log in every time because the "Remember This Device" checkbox is a lie. 😡

Charlie Kirk has been instigating for years. Shooting fascists *is* self defense.

"My dog either hyperfocuses or can't focus at all and fails to understand social cues!"

So you're saying your dog is a dog?

I bounce from one interest to another all the time. Some last awhile, some don't. The longest lasting ones I'll forget about for years and then come back to later and slip back into like a pair of broken in boots.

Nope. As you said in It Could Happen Here, sometimes you need crazy violent people to raise the temperature and get everyone else accustomed to the idea.

There's plenty of them who will hear about this, and they'll be suitably sad and upset for a few minutes. Then they'll shrug and say, "What can you do? Accidents happen."

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Laws only matter when they're enforced, up to and including with violence. If nobody is willing to do what it takes to enforce a law, it may as well not exist.

They'll consider whether a chatbot should have human rights before whether trans people should be able to use a public restroom or Gazan children should be able to live

Put two Europeans in an empty room with each other and one will find a way and a reason to call the other a Jew.

Christianity as a kind and merciful religion is a pretty recent idea and not one accepted by all its adherents, possibly not even by most of them.

I wonder how long before only photos taken with actual film will be the only ones considered reliable.

We stumble and lurch through our lives with wounds that don't heal and scars that don't fade, blinded to our fellows by the very isolation we suffered in.

And as long as parental rights are elevated above children's, as long good people stand aside, there will be more of us.

Does bile still rise to your throat at the words, "This hurts me as much as it hurts you" even decades later?

You're not alone. We're not alone. There is, in fact, an army of us. More recruits arrive unwillingly every day. But we feel alone, we don't march together.

Have you been beaten with a spoon until it broke? Have you been screamed at for a flick of your eyes or the slump of your shoulders? Tied to a chair? Been made to feel small, and worthless, and repulsive by your parents? Forced to hug them after such treatment?

The important thing is not to stop even if he does leave.

For me success is having a small kit house in a quiet neighborhood. Being able to get to my job reliably every day. Being able to afford going to the bar on Fridays and maybe doing something nice once a month. And just... not worrying. I've pretty much given up on achieving any of that.

Nobody with a noble title has any business having anything to do with making decisions regarding human rights. I'd say change my mind, but nobody ever will.
April 21, 2025 at 7:34 PM
There's something both relieving and awful about seeing other people say they flinch from unexpected contact, or have to force themselves to make decisions, or feel like they need to be punished for imperfection, or have to pretend to be happy. There's others like me. But there shouldn't be.

It took me four years from discovering @swordsjew.bsky.social 's series on Evangelical child abuse to disentangle my own psyche enough from my childhood to read it through without flinching away. And seeing that many people reiterate my own experiences brings the pain back all over again.

Look on the bright side, they're less likely to trip and stab someone with a tactical wallet.
