If only my record-room still looked that tidy
Maybe it's just our 'elderly' ears. Your description of it being 'wrapped in cotton wool' more-or-less fits the sound of my copy. I do think the production has a wooly sound, but It's also true yours could be knackered!

I think that's just the sound of 'Outdoor Miner' insofar as mine doesn't sound 'great' either and never did. Always assumed it was a production choice of the ever unpredictable Wire.

God yes! Stop mithering. It must be tough trying to get by on so little.

I've noticed you're always on the pike.

I like 'on the pike for a while' ( your misplaced finger). I'm going to try to bring it into use here- just need to think what context. 'Have I got time for a shower before tea'? ' Yes, tea will be on the pike for a while yet'. 'Is that picture new'? 'Nooooo, that's been on the pike for a while'

Think you'll find their latest is worth your attention as well. Sold out on Bandcamp but must still be in the shops over there.

I like that Greg Foat Group stuff. As just Greg Foat he became quite prolific and difficult to keep up with.

What a delight.

This is another oldie that I still listen to quite a bit. This whole LP is bang up my alley.

Maybe more trip than hip but I think this LP still sounds good.

Cripes, I don't know if I can look at this. I'm welling up just looking at the picture!

I'm a big fan- especially that song 'The People...'. It's on a CD for the car so you know it's good, but once you know how it all ended it's impossible to put it to one side when you listen to her- whatever she's singing. It lends a very melancholy air to it all.

Yes, one of my favourite LP covers

Anything Svenonius related so Chain and the Gang, Escape-ism, XYZ, Weird War, his interviews with Mark E Smith, and Terry Hall, and definitely the Make Up

It was the well known glass in the hand anecdote when MacBryde introduces himself to Barker in The Colony club. I thought he sounded like an interesting cove and I must find out more about him. Info was sparse- no John Byrne book, no Last Bohemians and, of course, no internet. Great Days!

And I was at the exhibition today. Claire bought the book. Nice to see all that in one place. I've had an interest in that pair since George Barker's 'South Bank Show' in 88 and I've only ever seen one painting in all that time. A labour of love to pull all that together.

One of those that I got rid of, Never really clicked Now the Ici La Bas 12" and L Voag Move 7", those are a different matter. The absolute tops and still sound great.

I get fed up with it presented as news. I don't want to know about Alan Carr sweating, but if I want to look at the news online it's hard to miss it. I gave up on Radio 3 a few years ago- too many ads, getting rid of the better presenters, 'chill out' programmes, getting a bit Classic FM for me.

Saw Scott Hamilton at a small gig in Norwich about 20 years ago. Real nice chap, took the time to have a word with my son who was learning saxophone at the time.

If you haven't heard it you might like Luke Cowan's recent 'Six Places' LP. Similar feel for me, but a bit 'jazzier'.

It's live and let live from now on- I'll take out what comes easy but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

I'd like to miss Spanish bluebells. The people who lived here before us planted them and I've been trying, for 25 years to eradicate them. Now I've written that I think it's time to admit they have beaten me.
