I spent enough time in Summer 2024 visiting a friend who was resident in a private room on one of the top floors of QEH for months, and every time it was just as jaw dropping - I felt like an extra in Andor pounding endless corridors for hours just to get to her.

🧵 I want to post about this book AS A WRITER, because it's so bloody good.

It's a masterclass in throwing out ideas of genre & form. It's a masterclass in writing the self & motherhood unflinchingly, all the beauty & gore. It makes me want to write more & write better. Read it if you haven't yet.

As an aside , it's now considered rude to say you're throwing your Radiohead albums in the trash, apparently.

That one's on my list! I'm reading Lydia Davis on this cloudy morning in bed.

Awkward grins are my bag in photos, but I was genuinely chuffed as hell to celebrate being in the @bristolshortstory.bsky.social 17th anthology last night.

The Outrun is a hard, beautiful watch - an unflinching examination of addiction, memory, & home/escape. I read Amy Liptrop's essay Nightlife years ago & it stuck with me - The Outrun manages to capture exactly the same sense of place & depth Liptrot creates in her writing, which is no mean feat 🙌

First photo taken by my son on 3rd Feb - it was 'fixed' the next day. Today it's back - I'm glad to say that Bristolians are stubborn as hell 💪 #BoycottTesla

Today, I received an unexpected gift wrapped in brown paper (the best kind), carried all the way from North Yorkshire to Bristol and given to me by hand.

I met the giver briefly 2 years ago during a point of stress, a moment of shared grief, & consigned it to a one-off meeting. 🧵

I'm too ill to write an insightful, punchy review of this book so far, but I'm only 31 pages in & damn it's GOOD.

I picked up Sophie K Rosa's #RadicalIntimacy in search of additional insight into my current musings around neuroqueering friendship & I'm finding so much more inside already.

Happy New Year! I know 2024 has been tough for many - it's been a death card of a year. One of loss, change, overwhelm & new ways of life being forced into fruition. I'm glad to see the back of it, but from endings comes transformation. If the death card is dealt, feel excited for new futures.

The book I'm writing, but it's a meme.

🧵 #NeurodivergentCreatives help me out 👋

Recently I've been picking apart my current inability to write. This isn't just writers' block, it's a terrifying paralysis.

I believe this struggle is mainly down to my neurodivergence (ADHD with a massive sprinkling of a persistent desire for autonomy).
