Yesterday the passionate and deeply knowledgeable leaders of Catholic Charities from across the country participated in more than 150 meetings with senators and members of the House of Representatives and their staff to advocate for just, humane policies affecting vulnerable, poor people in the US.

Profoundly appreciative to be with more than 75 members of the family and staff of the Raskob Foundation in Montgomery and Selma in this Jubilee Year of Hope.

In praise of the seven Catholic Charities agencies in Florida! It is wonderful to be in your sunny, caring company! Thank you for welcoming me to your beautiful and meaningful convening. Thank you for the hope you provide to all people in need in your communities across the state.

It is an honor to work with our Catholic Charities USA government relations team to advocate for just, humane policies affecting more than 15 million poor and vulnerable people served by Catholic Charities in all 50 states and 5 US territories. Thank you to the members of Congress with whom we met.

Thank you to my friend David Bethuram, Executive Director of Catholic Charities - Archdiocese of Indianapolis, for welcoming me and introducing me to some of his exceptionally dedicated colleagues. Grateful for their tenaciois compassion for poor and vulnerable people in challenging times.

Great to be in Chicago on Saint Patrick’s Day for a CEO panel discussion with my friends on the importance and value of Team Up, a bridgebuilding initiative of our four national organizations: Habitat for Humanity International, YMCA of the USA, Interfaith America and Catholic Charities USA.

Grateful for a hope-filled week in NY in the company of inspiring professors, journalists, theologians, bishops, environmental advocates, philanthropists, humanitarians, and cherished friends, all of whom take seriously the mandate to be a generous, loving, and beneficial presence in the world.
