I've started on Virtue's Last Reward. The game's localization is absolutely delightful. I want to strangle the shit out of that rabbit and give the actress a coffee.

I'm only a mission deep into Sigma 2 and while it does feel wrong for enemies to be this tanky, it does reinforce the importance of the Obliteration Technique. Which might make the transition to Mentor difficulty less jarring? Depends on how it's balanced there. Vanilla went a bit apeshit.

I'm coming at them wildly disconnected from the context they released in with some strong opinions on valid encounter design and how a camera should work, so it's not surprising I end up with the "incorrect" opinion.

In 2's case, they have more "normal fights" and that's what works best.

Part curiosity (people never shut up about NG2), part research for individual videos on the games and how they compare to other katana-based action games.

3D Ninja Gaiden is kinda its own thing, for good and bad. Lotta bad actually, which people seem hellbent on repressing.

The Ghost Fish are basically an apologetic joke, which is fun. I'm happier to see the elite enemies being a lot more readable and stunnable compared to zombies and dragon fiends in the first game.

Hey, don't talk like that about my Series S. It is very performative when it comes to 360 games.

Ys, Ys and more Ys. I am fully submerged in the first three games and not far off from getting a script going. Kinda stoked to record the rest of Ys 2 and go for a bunch of the achievements I missed.

I can feel Nightreign calling me back with the DLC though.

My retro list of shame is pretty similar, though I have beaten both Legaia games. I think Reborth and Skies of Arcadia would be the best picks from those four.
