They're not interested in outside opinions, they think they know best and they're ramming it down our throats with no opt-out. Paul just straight out said so in a reply to someone asking to be able to opt out. It's very Trumpian of them. No consent, we know best.

There's a hidden docking collar on the nose, that's normally covered by ablative armour plating - it retracts when the ship is docked. Internally there's an access corridor. These things are shown on the published Defiant schematics, scans below with explanations in the alt text.

Basically they're saying dentists use a different system to the rest of the NHS, no NHS numbers, and the NHS Dentists Business Services Authority have told them they can't use anything other than birth gender without a GRC.

" Good morning Winter,
Apologies for the delay, we have again spoken to our support centre, and this is the information provided:
"I understand the confusion around the differences between the gender change advice provided to Dental Practices, which appears conflicting to GP and other services. However, the difference is that dental practices operate and submit NHS dental claims separately from other NHS systems. Dental practices do not use NHS numbers when submitting dental claims, which must be sent in a specific format.
I understand that our Data Protection Team is currently reviewing the current dental practice guidance on gender re-assignment, in comparison to that provided to GP services. In the meantime, we will update your patient record to reflect your new title and name, as we have seen your change of name via deed poll). However, your gender marker must currently remain the same. At present, NHS dental claims must record gender as it appears at the individual’s birth registration, unless a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC) has been provided. Once a GRC is held we can then create a new patient record under your affirmed gender.
If we get instruction from our central team that the guidance has been, or will be updated, we will then be able to amend your gender. I understand that the differences in approach between the services may be frustrating, however, I hope that this further explains our current position."

Wildest thing about this Guillermo Del Toro interview is every skeet I've seen on here about it is about his anti-AI stance - which I totally agree with btw - when it ends with him saying he carries all his papers everywhere just in case ICE try to black bag him.
