I’m not sure how you define “basic stats,” but they likely need that to understand content analysis. I also taught undergrad methods for a few years and I do agree that content analysis can be lots of fun. Good luck!

I’m in a similar situation. Disappointing and sorry that happened to you.

I explain this on my syllabi because students don’t know and they really appreciate knowing how to refer to us!

It is more than a little test-taking strategies for people (like me and one of my kids) who don’t standardize test well. I’m so glad both mine are through that!

They are completely teachable. It is so unfair how some people naturally do so well. One of my kids studied 5- hours a week for two years to get above a 32 on the ACT so they could get into an engineering program. It paid off! We paid for prep help.

I cry when I come down off of it. Not my friend! Hopefully you heal quickly.

Keep trying! The good news is you have a lot of content that can reshaped to try again. I failed 15 times before success with federal grants.

It is coming together really well! The chapters are so strong and our intro and conclusion are going to do a nice job pulling things together! It is so interdisciplinary! Thank you for all your support.

I’m pretty picky with citations. If they aren’t real or are so incorrect you can’t find them easily, even in a conference paper, I’d give them the feedback you have already written and move on. Authors need to learn to double check citations because they are really important to get right!

Sorry to hear that. This is a really crazy policy! I had knee surgery that was expected to last 45 min and they found a difficult to remove tumor! I was under for well over 2 hours. How can doctors know the time it will take them? This has to vary by doctor as well. So frustrating!

Yes! Most are asking for letters for academic job seekers early in their process, so I have written over 40 so far for 6 people on the academic market! As a search chair, I don’t ask until campus visits, but that isn’t what I’m seeing many other places. Undergrads are also needing letters.

Lots more service especially in writing tenure, full, and award letters, and you need to say yes if they are a similar type institution (AAU or high R1). Daily requests to review for journals (I already do around 20-25/year). Obligation and responsibility to protect others’ time if more junior.

When I use survey panels (Prolific, Centiment, Qualtrics) they get paid by the panel company. When I recruit my participants, I pay with Tango cards because my university has rules around what they allow and prefer in terms of gift cards. We can still pay cash, but I really don’t like that option.
