Casual fan of city builder video games, JRPGs, heavy board games, action comedy movies, podcasts, motorcycle touring, camping, and consumer culture - emphasis on "casual". In my day job, I help parents meet Child Welfare requirements for reunification.
What frightens me? Knowing this is less than half the lowest monthly rent ($1300) in my neighborhood. And we wonder why we got problems.

The Alternative...
R: You have no leverage. You can have either 'food stamps' or 'nothing'
D: We'd rather take 'nothing'
Starving American families (who can vote in 2026): Umm.... hello?

How about instead of the circular firing squad, we keep focus on the guy who literally sued to withhold SNAP.

It's so good to see communities coming together to feed food-insecure families after our communities voted for an administration that stopped feeding food-insecure families.

Are they seriously arguing: "Why would we loan emergency funds to poor people who can't pay it back?" Did they have other plans for these funds or something?

The administration has said it cannot draw from money set aside for child nutrition programs, known as Section 32 funding, to pay for SNAP during the government shutdown.

The correct answer US voters SHOULD have made last year that would've avoided a de facto war with Iran.

Did someone dare Vance to be the biggest a**hole in the world, Trading Places style?

I've never seen someone with so much ambition specifically geared towards pissing people off for no reason.

[Proposing an update to that famous Sublime song:]

June 8th, 2025.
There was a riot on the streets
It was recorded live.

[I'd keep these lines, though:]

'Cause everybody in the hood has had it up to here
It's getting hotter and hotter and harder each and every year

Why wouldn't he run in 2028?

Has the constitution stopped him?

Have the courts stopped him?

Has impeachment stopped him?

Have the voters stopped him?

Has negative public opinion stopped him?

Have protests stopped him?

Why wouldn't he run again?

Without Due Process:
1) You don't have to be told why you're being kidnapped.
2) The enforcers don't have to justify why.
3) No one questions it.

So in a country where there is no Due Process, does it even matter if you're a citizen or not?

"When asked for comment, Trump responded [translated]: 'I'm just trying to avoid negative consequences for all of my belligerent and whimsical actions'."

Would it really be too inappropriate to just replace any of his soundbites with the above statement? Isn't that sufficient?

Americans be all like: "Well, the tariffs must not be all that bad since prices of household goods stayed the same this morning."

Americans four months from now be all like: "How did prices go up so much this week? It's a mystery! Must be government waste!"

Can Netflix make an American version of their show, Adolescence? I think we could use it.

I mean, I'm impressed by the acting and themes, but I'm worried the cultural nuances might be enough to tune Americans out.

I seriously doubt any American finished it without googling the word 'nonce'.

The biggest weakness of humanity is the persistent concept of the infallible individual.

If a group of people can convince a progressively larger population over time that a particular individual is incapable of being wrong, then what force is there to stop that person's whims from becoming law?

Social Security is that government bank account that Americans pay into for pretty much their entire working life.

It's money that's promised to be returned to them when they retire or get too sick to work.
