Professional translator.

Proud Italian localizer of Supergiant Games' HADES and HADES II!

Currently translating Image Comics' NIGHTS, THE DEVIANT, and Boom! Studios' I HEART SKULL-CRUSHER.

Past titles: THE CULL, VOX MACHINA ORIGINS, MMPR/TMNT, and more!

The queues for autographs and sketches were quite long, as expected, and I got to see quite a few drawings take shape for the enjoyment of lucky convention-goers.

At this year's Lucca Comics & Games festival, I had the distinct pleasure of shaking hands with the talented (and unexpectedly tall!) @therightram.bsky.social and Filipe Andrade, co-authors of the wonderful RARE FLAVOURS.

#HadesII just received its latest content drop, the UNSEEN UPDATE, paving the way for the final stretch of its development.

Among the smallest additions, but vital to note: a disclaimer in the Credits section clarifying that no AI was used in making the game (or translating it, for that matter).

Latest in the recent string of releases I translated for Edizioni BD, this week saw the Italian release of NIGHTS vol. 2 (or "Season One, Part Two"), by @wyattwritesthings.bsky.social, Luigi Formisano, @francescosegala.bsky.social and the invaluable Maria Letizia Mirabella on lettering duty.

Following a brief preview at Napoli Comicon, this week saw the official Italian launch of (freshly Eisner-nominated) RARE FLAVOURS by @therightram.bsky.social and Filipe Andrade, translated by yours truly for the usual folks at Edizioni BD.

This one was a gift, both to read and work on.

This week saw the Italian release of I HEART SKULL-CRUSHER vol. 1, translated (and lettered) by yours truly.

A wild romp mixing spokon tropes and post-apocalyptic fun, by @cozyjamble.bsky.social, Alessio Zonno and @plutomaris.bsky.social.

Captain Tsubasa meets Mad Max with just a dash of Trigun.

This week saw the Italian release of THE DEVIANT vol. 1 by @jamesthefourth.bsky.social and @joshixson.bsky.social, which I translated for Edizioni BD.

A stirring and deeply atmospheric journey into social prejudice, with the grit and pacing of a prestige TV serial.

From where I stand, this game cements Remedy's narrative universe experiment as one of the most exciting things in recent gaming history.

I can't wait to see where Control 2 takes this wild ride next.

Alan Wake II is a game that turns its own narrative into a puzzle mechanic and gives you the option to take a break from shooting shadow people to watch an indie Finnish short film.

It's bold, weird, and occasionally (very) silly in a way that only adds to the unsettling mystery of it all.

Where the game truly demands your attention is in the inventiveness of its writing and presentation, refining the first game's "interactive TV show" approach and ultimately achieving escape velocity from it.

Miles above what I've seen in most products by other developers in terms of sheer audacity.

The world is exquisitely realised, with maniacal attention to detail. I often stopped in my tracks to wonder how long it took to create all the assets.

Gameplay can be occasionally frustrating due to a couple of design choices (and a buggy UI), but I enjoyed most of the pure survival sections.

The sequel is definitely more horror-heavy, with the levity of the original's Stephen King vibes (and oddball Twin Peaks-inspired cast) evolved and mutated by a massive injection of True Detective influences.

It also features the most oppressive forests I've ever personally seen in a game.

After waiting for both DLCs to be released, I purchased and finished @remedygames.com's Alan Wake II.

A towering audio-visual achievement, and a stunning feat in mixed-media narrative that fully embraces the most bizarre things you can do with the videogame format.

The other of my now-released Italian translations is Volume 1 of "Nights" by Wyatt Kennedy and Luigi Formisano, with colours by Francesco Segala.

A romance-horror-comedy hybrid, "Nights" is my first stint as translator of an ongoing series from the first volume onwards.

Sometimes you wait months at the bus stop, and then two show up at once.

As of yesterday, two of my recent-ish translations are available in Italian bookstores. The first is Richard Blake's debut graphic novel, "Hexagon Bridge".

As if yesterday's news weren't enough, my Italian translation of The Cull vol. 1 by @kellythompson.bsky.social and @mattiadeiulis.bsky.social is out today!

A vibrant young adult fantasy/sci-fi romp that leaves you wishing for more, with some important themes scattered throughout. Recommended.

My Italian translation of Adrienne Buller's "The Value of a Whale" is now in bookstores.

A deep dive into the many, dangerous false promises of "green" capitalism, from "carbon offsets" to "net zero"; an eye-opening look at an economy that doesn't want to change, the world be damned.

"Mummy Apokolips"

Finally, later that same month, it was the turn of @ifyoucantwell.bsky.social's and Luca Casalanguida's "Regarding the Matter of Oswald's Body".

A surprisingly fun conspiracy thriller that finds fresh things to say about one of the most written-about events of the past century.

November brought along @therightram.bsky.social's and
Anand RK's "Blue in Green", a sprawlingly ambitious tale of inspiration and obsession in the artist's search for greatness.

Phenomenal to look at, and a stirring look at how our passions drive us and consume us.

Much of the summer was spent working for the coming months.

September started paying off with
@jamesthefourth.bsky.social's and Gavin Fullerton's "The Closet", a haunting look at the horror we carelessly inflict upon each other.

Highly recommended, in any language.

April saw the Italian publication of @mattalt.bsky.social's "Pure Invention", a scintillating look at how post-war Japan rose from the ashes to colonise our Western mindscape.

A piece of quintessential reading for a generation of gaijin otaku for whom Japan is a home they've never been to.

March brought along @criticalrole.bsky.social's "Vox Machina: Origins" Vol. 3, by @matthewmercer.bsky.social, @jodyhouser.bsky.social, Olivia Samson, et al.

I'm a big fan of the whole franchise, so leaving my grubby fingerprints all over it was a real treat. Hoping for more down the line!

The year kicked off in early February with a labour of love: @louisalim.bsky.social's "Indelible City".

Whatever your opinions about Hong Kong's plight, you have to read this book. A stunning, varied, fresh look at a city with a myriad of identities. It moved me in ways I did not expect.
