Maybe now is the time to bring this up again, but @kenrussell.bsky.social of Florida blew me away because he was one of the first politicians I had seen who was using social media RIGHT! I won’t get into how the Dems screwed him over during the primaries BUT I think he could teach how to reach!

Just for the record, I as an American do not want or deserve ownership of Gaza, Canada, Greenland, or the Panama Canal. #manifestdensity

The only thing uglier than the president’s plan for Gaza is BBs smirk while listening to it.

#ZeroWaste or Darn Close! Is the aspiration to recycle, compost, and reduce our waste so that incineration is unnecessary and landfills are smaller, cleaner, and better for the environment. Here at Everglades Coalition w @sierraclub

Good morning from @miamidadecounty.bsky.social where the commission is meeting to discuss alternatives to building a garbage incinerator.
January 28, 2025 at 2:43 PM
HUGE ENVIRONMENTAL WIN. Miami Dade will NOT be building a new garbage incinerator near the everglades— or anywhere. @sierraclub.bsky.social has been advocating for the #zerowaste solution and they’re finally embracing it. Let’s #recycle #compost @miamidadecounty.bsky.social @miamiherald.com

The solutions to tree issues in Miami are not legislative—they are administrative. Don’t change the code—enforce the code and make it work. #fixtherootoftheproblem

Why is Miami considering eliminating recycling? They blame resident participation but these bins have been waiting on my street five days w/o pickup

Levine Cava said the new focus on an incinerator alternative came not from the Trump family pushback but from a recent meeting with the Sierra Club.” based on their advocacy, we thought it was appropriate to take some additional time to consider it.” -Miami Herald

It has been the position of Sierra Club that garbage incineration is the worst form of handling waste, even when compared to landfilling, and we believe that the Mayor and the Commission are taking the right steps towards a comprehensive solution.2/2

Official statement from Sierra Club: Sierra Club is thankful to Mayor Levine Cava for convening environmental leaders and listening to their input on the garbage incinerator decision. The Mayor cited this meeting when she suggested further exploration.1/2

#stoptheburn we don’t need a garbage incinerator and surprise: landfills are part of the solution
December 3, 2024 at 5:09 PM
Garbage Landfills as we know them are bad. A landfill utilized only for what’s left after diversion of organic waste, recycling, and construction debris is the best environmental solution. No incinerator needed.
