The long-term prospects for my country are poor because the level of constitutional treachery, massive inexcusable corruption, & horrifying criminality requires a response that will inevitably be interpreted by large segments of society as an attack on them, setting up years of escalating conflict
This is how military coups start
And it seems to me. That this problem starts to become a massive one for leaders. How can they be happy that their sailors and subordinates start to think they are working for a broken and corrupt organization and questioning whether every act is proper and a “real legitimate order”.

The institutions are not equipped to fix these broken things and are actually engineered to prevent improving them. The system has endless veto points to prevent restoration. The institutions are sclerotic. It will always be faster and easier to destroy than to build or rebuild.

It is clear that American society has completely broken down over the last decade. Selfishness is the primary value, an end in itself. The lives of other people are to be treated as disposable, mere inconveniences to getting what you want.

It would be really nice if the media would stop reporting on the fact that Trump simply says something since we’ve all had a solid decade to learn based on overwhelming evidence that absolutely nothing he says means anything, it’s all just random synapses firing in the moment.

Why is @indivisible.org not immediately, and I mean IMMEDIATELY, not working on and announcing the date for the next No Kings protest? Pro-democracy movements are dependent on sustained protest, not every once in awhile.

For everyone who thinks some future election will save us, you’re fooling yourself. They hold the levers of power now: Military, political, economic, and they are not planning to let them go. The most important election of our lives was last year and the people chose this. It’s too late now.

Blue states need to start talking seriously about secession. This is not a drill. States should not be subject to military invasion, arbitrary arrest of their leaders, and theft/denial of public goods based on their politics. It’s time to secede.

Sure, America has decimated democracy and the rule of law, dismantled its government, universities, and scientific institutions, and embraced ethnic cleansing and war crimes, but at least the president isn’t a woman, and that’s apparently the most important thing to most Americans.
