I’m an American living in the Netherlands. I just got ACL reconstruction surgery. The total cost (including MRI, PT, and the surgery itself) was €395 or about $400 USD. I also pay ~$120/month in health insurance. I never factored in affording care when deciding if I was going to get the surgery.

The craziest thing to me when I first became a dancer was that people go into some auditions not knowing if the gig is paid or if they will have to PAY🫠

Since I’m new here let me introduce myself:
I’m a 28 year old American living in Amsterdam. Though my degree is in Kinesiology and I work in a comfy tech job, my dream is to become a dancer. I’m inspired by creatives of all sorts, and really anyone with earnest passion for what they do.

Yesterday I went to the fabric market in Amsterdam for pants I am making for a performance…successfully completed the interaction in Dutch (a great feat for me since there isn’t a sewing section on DuoLingo)…until I saw the price tag and realised it was €39/meter and not the €9/meter that I heard 🥲
