Today in Lake Mburo National Park South-western Uganda!

There are well presented wildlife at only 370Kms2. The park is small compared to other savanna national parks in Uganda. It is a home to surprising wildlife such as Impalas, bushbuck, Common Elands, Zebras, Topis etc

Leopard Hanging up on the tree in Murchison Falls National park

African Pitta (Pitta angolensis) in Budongo Forest North-western Uganda!

Found on the floor of forest and dense thicket. Very shy, remaining motionless for long periods. At least some populations are migratory within Africa. africanbirdingjourneys.com

Green-breasted Pitta (Pitta reichenowi) in Kibale National Park Western Uganda!

It is a species of bird in the family Pittidae. It is one of only two Pitta species in Africa, and is found in deep forest of tropics. africanbirdingjourneys.com

Sokoke Scops Owl (Otus ireneae) in Arabuko Sokoke Forest Kenya!

A small owl with a tiny range along the East African coast. Note the yellow eyes, the small ear tufts. Its endangered species living in Kenya's vulnerable coastal forest. Their decline can be attributed to loss of suitable habitat!

Shoebill can stay motionless for hours, so when a hapless lungfish comes up for air, it might not notice this bird looming until it’s too late. The bird practice a hunting technique called “collapsing,” which involves lunging or falling forward on its prey.

Unusual Sightings; Shoebill are known to prefer to live alone. Even hunting is done separately, and the male and female are only seen together during mating season!

The shoebill (Balaeniceps rex) looks like it belongs in the prehistoric age. Found in the marshes of East Africa, it is classified as vulnerable and is a bucket-list sighting for any avid birder.
