Another test print using Bambu labs Chroma Canvas beta app...
September 29, 2025 at 12:08 AM
As I have been testing the Bambu labs Chroma Canvas filament painting tool, I have been experimenting with some very specific artistic styles with some of my images.
I enhanced the original image with an older technique called Camaiêu.
It really enhanced the fine lines and details

I've been beta testing Bambu labs latest tool, called Chroma Canvas.
It's essentially a hueforge type of tool (filament painting) with 3D printers.
These are the most recent 3D prints I've printed using the new tool.
I'm extremely impressed with the potential here.

Is this when the Simpsons had predicted the cyber truck?

Another interesting use for melted waste filament... By melting the leftover filament waste from 3D printing on to blank wood coasters, I can get some really interesting ideas.

This is one experiment I've done. Images printed onto sublimation paper, then heat transferred onto the plastic sheets in the panini press. The T-shirt press could do the same but larger size.

Currently, I am shredding some of the larger pieces and melting it in a small Panini grill.
Next step is figuring out how to repurpose the plastic sheets.

Working on my home recycling station. This is waste PLA filament from my 3D printing. It's from failed prints, old prints, support materials, etc.
I'm using water bottles to store the separated colours, for further repurposing.

Here's another experiment of a heat transferred image I printed on sublimation paper then used a little panini press to transfer the image to some left over black PLA 3d printed material.

A couple more tests.
Still perfecting the process and timing. There are a few minor variables, even within different manufacturers pla materials.
You can see where the image didn't adhere 100% in the one image, and some of the background yellow popped through

Just wanted to show how thin these recycled 3D printer waste / sublimation prints are.
The fairy image really pops out.

I started experimenting with repurposing the waste from my 3D printing... Support materials, failed prints, etc. I'm using a small Panini press to remelt the PLA waste and am now testing the ability to heat press images from sublimation paper that I printed on. These are my first tests.

Isn't it awesome to be able to make something like that?
I have an A1 mini and regular A1, and have been making stuff like this...

Here are the latest 3D prints I've done using Hueforge's software for filament painting...

These are some of my first filament paintings that I tried using Hueforge's software.

This is a scaled up print, that I created using luban3d to cut up the image, and Hueforge to paint and print.

I wanted to see if I could duplicate an optical illusion using filament painting...
This was printed on my new Neptune 3 pro, so I am still dialing in the printer.

Here are a few more...

I've been experimenting with Hueforge's Filament painting and this software is so awesome...
Here are several of my filament paintings...
